Happy Holidays Everyone!
We are blessed for so many reasons this year and it is because of YOU that Gilead House is here to provide safe housing, supportive mental health, education, and LOVE. Your generosity makes it possible for our moms to get back on track, focus on their best personal self and have hope for a bright future for their families.
“For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” (Matthew 25:35)
Single moms and their children come to Gilead House ready to rebuild their lives and strengthen their families. The journey can be long and while there may be hardships along the way and many bumps in the road ahead; they all are tenacious on reaching the end goal. Hope is an incredibly strong word at Gilead House. Hope means you’re in the right place, have a bright strong future and endless support.
“Single mom, may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13)
Here are some stories I’m especially proud of:
Capri: Capri overcame so much in her life, her constant positive outlook on life glows when you talk with her. Capri is determined to help other women like herself get back on the road to self-sufficiency. On the steady path to success, Capri maintains a 3.58 GPA at College of Marin. She will graduate in the Fall of 2022 with an associate degree in Business. We all could not be prouder!
“You guys believed in me when I didn't believe in myself and that alone inspires me to succeed”. Capri
Tiffany: Years ago, Tiffany and her son lived in their car and moved from shelter to shelter. They periodically slept on the couches and floors of friends and family. She was unable to afford housing due to the large debt she accrued. Tiffany had no future until she found Gilead House. Almost immediately after completion of the Gilead House program, Tiffany was recently promoted to Facilitator/Emergency Service and Shelter Advocate at Center for Domestic Peace. Truly, Tiffany believes in giving back and making a difference. Fast forward to today – Tiffany has a new title added to her name – “Homeowner”. Yes, Tiffany is so thrilled to be a new construction homeowner in Sonoma County.
Theresa:Theresa completed the Gilead House program in the Summer of 2021. She blazes the trail of success with 2 certificates as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician. Theresa and her family of 4 just moved into a 5-bedroom home in Novato and are thriving better than ever.
Erin: Erin moved into Gilead house after years of homelessness. She ran from domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse. Erin attended College of Marin and was accepted into Nursing School soon after her arrival at Gilead House. Today, Erin is happily married with 3 kids and lives in Northern California.
“Thank you again for everything there are no words to express...thank you for life”. Erin
None of these success stories would have happened without your generosity!
For nearly 2 years of living through a global pandemic Gilead House never missed a step in our goals & our mission of housing, educating and supporting our single moms! The pandemic happened on my watch and my goal is take Gilead House and our mission to the next level. We know with every fiber of our collective being that we will be even stronger and help more moms in need in 2022.
As you all know, Gilead House is 100% donation based and funded by generous people like you. Thank you! Thank you so much for all your love, generosity, and financial help! I wish you the safest, best Holiday Season you could possibly have. Sing songs with family. Eat well. Be thankful for those in your life that helped you along the way and remember that your donations are helping others along their way. It is with joyous praise and best wishes for your health and happiness in 2022 that I sign off my last newsletter of the year.
